Dagger is heading to Vail, Colo., again this June as an official sponsor, and the “official kayak” of the Teva Mountain Games (TMG) and The Steep Creek Championship. The Games are one of the premier outdoor sporting events in the country, and Dagger is proud to support the celebration of active living in mountain communities. In addition to four kayaking events, the Games’ overall commitment to adventure and displays of multi-sport fervor and competition throughout the weekend perfectly aligns with the broader Dagger philosophy of pushing the limits and exploring outdoor passions.
“The outdoor community is a unique and eclectic space, following interests all along the sporting spectrum,” said Jessica Prescott, marketing communications manager for Confluence Watersports, parent company of Dagger. “The Teva Mountain Games is one of the year’s best demonstrations of bringing this group together under the uniting premises of competition, passion and adventure. As a brand, we embrace the broader outdoor lifestyle and kayaking’s special niche in this space, so we’re proud to again be an official sponsor of the Games and to continue our support of the Vail Valley Foundation whose commitment to a healthy lifestyle and community displays the values we strive to uphold.”
This year, in the spirit of community, Dagger is also supporting multisport enthusiasts by awarding boats crossover kayaks, a Dagger Axis 10.5 and a Dagger Axis 12.0, to the first place finishers of the both men’s and women’s X-Country Mountain Bike Race. Dagger wants to recognize and reward those demonstrating passion for activities outside of kayaking to promote exploration across a range of outdoor sport offerings, one of the values on which the brand is built.
In addition, Dagger will support the third annual Thule Stash and Dash Challenge by providing boats for participants to use in the kayak car topping portion of the competition.
Dagger will have an expo tent at the Steep Creek Race on Thursday where spectators will be able to buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win a new Dagger Mamba 8.1. All proceeds benefit Team River Runner, a non-profit organization that gives active duty service members and veterans an opportunity to find health, healing, and new challenges through whitewater boating and other paddling sports. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Dagger tent will move to “Gear Town” in Vail Village, where attendees will have the opportunity to paddle a variety of Dagger kayaks in the nearby demo pool. Dagger kayaks will be available to purchase at the neighboring Colorado Kayak Supply tent. Stop by to meet the athletes, paddle the boats, and enter the raffle for a chance to win a Dagger Mamba 8.1.
TMG has four planned kayaking events: Steep Creek Championship, Kayak Freestyle, 8-Ball Kayak Sprint and the Down River Sprint, which is a leg of the GNC Ultimate Mountain Challenge presented by Kru82. Team Dagger athletes are slated to compete against the world’s best kayakers in the Steep Creek Championship on Homestake Creek and the Kayak Freestyle competition at Vail Whitewater Park.
The Teva Mountain Games will be held May 31-June 3, 2011 in Vail, Colo.
