Metallica frontman James Hetfield found himself the target of criticism from fans after he announced that he will be narrating The Hunt, a History miniseries chronicling bear hunts in Alaska’s Kodiak Island. Hetfield had previously made it known that he was an enthusiastic hunter and gun owner, yet the announcement of the documentary seemed to surprise many music lovers. Some even went on to protest the band’s performance at the Glastonbury Festival late last month, but were too few in number to actually bar Metallica from the stage. In a bizarre, tongue-in-cheek jab at their naysayers, Metallica played the following video before their set. The short film was made by British filmmaker Julien Temple, who spliced scenes from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and a fox hunt before Metallica’s explosive appearance.
It’s a strange trip.
