Video: Tigers Hunt, Take Down Asian Black Bear

Did you know that a group of tigers is sometimes referred to as an “ambush?” That term is certainly suitable for these apex predators. Individually, tigers are a hunting powerhouse capable of bringing down the largest of prey. Tigers rarely hunt as a group, but when they do, the results can be terrifying even to other predators such as the Asian black bear.

In fact, black bears sometimes find themselves on a tiger’s menu, especially when their territories overlap. Experts believe that some tigers have developed such a keen taste for bears that they will imitate prey noises to lure bears out of hiding.

You can see one such hunt below, from Discovery Channel’s Tigress Blood. Some viewers may find the footage graphic.
