Photo: Seal Rides Whale off Australian Coast

We bet all the other seals are crazy jealous.

A photographer in New South Wales, Australia managed to capture this bizarre image of a seal sunbathing on top of a humpback whale. Apparently, a whale pod was feeding in the area and the opportunistic seal decided to take advantage of the bait ball that had formed. To avoid colliding with animals several times its size, the seal instead perched on one of the whales and dived in whenever there was an opening. The whale presumably didn’t mind its passenger at all.

“We’d seen some amazing whales coming out of the water, everything was happening so quickly,” photographer Robyn Malcolm told The Sydney Morning Herald. “And it was when I went back through the photos that I realized I had actually captured the seal on top of the whale.”
