Video: Enraged Bull Elephant Impales Young Buffalo

Elephants may be among the smartest animals on the planet, but they can still be prone to fits of violence. This video taken in South Africa’s Kruger National Park shows a bull elephant running down and stabbing a young buffalo with its tusks. We’re not sure exactly what the other animal did to provoke it, but the elephant wasn’t having any of it.
It’s hard to argue against several tons of muscle, especially when it comes armed with spear-like tusks. Younger male elephants are especially known for their destructive tendencies, and often require the presence of older males or large females to calm them down. It is not unknown in some cases for these males to destroy things seemingly at random—even killing other animals merely to sake their aggression.
