The Bosphorus straiht is one of the world’s most important waterways for shipping and commerce, and this wild boar decided to see what all the commotion was about.
A large wild boar swam almost a half mile across the Bosphorus before it came ashore in the Beykoz district of the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey. The boar was aggressive and it caused quite a stir. The boar reportedly interfered with traffic and damaged store displays. This type of wildlife-human interaction is increasingly common in Istanbul because of the city’s rapid growth.
An encounter with a Turkish wild boar can also be quite dangerous as they can weigh over 300 pounds.
