It’s now official, the famous gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson has decided to change the company’s name in 2017. What does this mean for the firearms division? Not as much as some people might think.
Smith & Wesson enthusiasts take a deep breath because the company will still hold onto the iconic Smith & Wesson name for all its firearms.
It will be the holding corporation that will be going by the new name come 2017, and that name is American Outdoor Brands Corp.
President and CEO of Smith & Wesson/AOBC James Debney had this to say of the name change:
“We are excited about the results of today’s stockholder vote. We believe that American Outdoor Brands Corp. is a name that truly represents our broad and growing array of brands and businesses in the shooting, hunting and rugged outdoor enthusiast markets.”
“Looking ahead,” Debney continued, “and operating as American Outdoor Brands Corp., we intend to continue building upon our portfolio, focusing on brands and products that best meet the needs and lifestyle of our target consumers.”
All in all, the name change seems like it will have very little effect, if any at all, on the firearms division of the large company.
