Cabela’s, RMEF Continue Partnership for Conservation

As the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation presses toward its 30th birthday and 7 millionth acre of habitat conserved for elk and other wildlife, one outdoor retail partner has been there from the start: Cabela’s.

“RMEF was founded and published its first member magazine in 1984. If you’re one of the lucky ones who own that collector’s edition of ‘Bugle,’ look inside and you’ll see advertising from Cabela’s,” said David Allen, RMEF president and CEO. “Cabela’s has been right behind us each step of the way, from our very humble beginnings to our recent 6 million-acre milestone in habitat conservation.”

He added, “That’s a 28-year span of loyalty and effectiveness that few partnerships can match. We’re so grateful to Cabela’s for its generous commitment to conservation.”

The company recently confirmed existing and new sponsorships for RMEF initiatives in 2012. First, Cabela’s is sponsoring RMEF’s 2012 Conservation Edition Print “Morning Shot” by Craig Tennant for 500-plus RMEF chapters. The company has underwritten over 5,000 prints for RMEF events since 2002 and proceeds have raised enough funds to conserve more than 3,725 acres for elk, other wildlife, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts across the country. Cabela’s also is donating gift cards and merchandise to be used as premiums in RMEF membership drives, contributing items for auctions and other fundraisers, and sponsoring the RMEF national convention, called Elk Camp, for the 12th consecutive year. Finally, Cabela’s also is a supporting sponsor of RMEF’s Elk Country Legacy mission and membership initiative.

“We are proud of our long-standing partnership with RMEF,” said Chris Sprangers, brand partnership manager for Cabela’s. “We support RMEF because of its leadership in conserving habitat for elk and other wildlife, and for future generations of hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. RMEF’s successes create long-lasting benefits for our customers.”
