Project Healing Waters Honors our Nation’s Disbaled Veterans on Armed Forces Day

Join us on May 17 in Palmetto, Florida, on Armed Forces Day in support of the Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Deep South Region’s 4th Annual Outing to honor disabled veterans in our region and the Veterans Administration hospitals who serve them.
Three local organizations — Project Healing Waters, the Bradenton Yacht Club, and the Crosthwait Memorial Fishing Tournament — will team to honor our nation’s disabled veterans on Armed Forces Day 2014. You are invited to join us in person or in heart.
Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHWFF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, currently operating 167 programs in 49 states in Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transition Units, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and clinics.
PHWFF is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans through Fly casting, fly tying, and rod building classes, fly fishing education and monthly fishing outings, at no cost to our heroes.
In the morning, some 30 fishing boats and 60 volunteers will take wounded military and disabled veterans fly fishing.
In the afternoon, the public is invited to participate in ceremonies for all veterans, including a Flag Folding Ceremony, and public presentations recognizing all attending veterans.
The Deep South Region of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. includes three states, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi, and operates programs in 15 VA hospital medical centers, clinics and centers in: Bay Pines, Biloxi, Daytona, Eglin, Gulfport, Hattiesburg, Jacksonville, MacDill AFB, Miami, Orlando VA Medical Center, Orlando VA Hospital, Pensacola, Tampa, The Villages, Brevard County.
