Bass Pro Shops, an outdoor retailer specializing in hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor gear, will locate the company’s sixth Canadian store in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. The 145,000-square-foot store will be a key anchor for the Tsawwassen Mills – a 1.2-million-sqare-foot, value-oriented mall, located on the northwest corner of Highway 17 and 52nd Avenue – being developed by Ivanhoé Cambridge. The store will include the popular Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill and is scheduled to open in 2016.
“It’s an incredible opportunity for Bass Pro Shops to place our sixth Canadian store in this beautiful part of southern British Columbia,” said Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops. “This will be our fourth project with developer Ivanhoé Cambridge, and we are grateful to them for selecting Bass Pro Shops to be one of the premier anchor tenants in this new retail development. We have enjoyed tremendous success with our partnership with Ivanhoé Cambridge and our existing stores at Vaughan Mills in Toronto and CrossIron Mills in Calgary. We look forward to working with them again on our new stores in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Metro Vancouver.”
This site is strategically located on Highway 17, the major thoroughfare to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal which transports 7.9 million people to Vancouver Island annually. Everyone traveling to Vancouver Island via the ferry will pass directly by this location. More than 2.3 million people live in the Metro Vancouver area, making Vancouver the third largest metro area in Canada and the most populated in western Canada. Tsawwassen Mills is located in southwest Metro Vancouver. The Tsawwassen Mills project will be the first enclosed regional shopping center built in Vancouver in 25 years.
“We are very pleased to bring Bass Pro Shops to Tsawwassen Mills as our marque anchor tenant,” said Ivanhoé Cambridge Executive Vice President of Development, Paul Gleeson. “It is with market unique tenants such as Bass Pro Shops that Tsawwassen Mills will be a truly world-class shopping destination like no other in Metro Vancouver.”
