Steven Rinella, host of MeatEater, is passionate about hunting and tracking grizzly bears – even if it means changing his game-plan and shifting his sights to a giant black bear instead. Everything is going according to plan, until inclement weather threatens the hunt. Rinella’s sheer determination keeps him going and potentially gives him another shot at a grizzly bear on this week’s episode of MeatEater, exclusively on Sportsman Channel, Thursday, February 13 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The hanging valleys of British Columbia serve as a picturesque backdrop for Rinella’s next attempt to take a black bear. Cautiously, Rinella approaches the bear in hopes of getting an accurate shot. His target is clear, but where the bear ends up, is not. “We were surrounded by some of the best scenery, but the brush and trees also made it difficult to find what we were looking for,” said Rinella. “I needed to find the bear before nightfall, so nothing else would find it first.”
With one final day to hunt, Rinella unexpectedly finds a grizzly worth taking. In a race against time, Rinella attempts to track the grizzly he’s been pursuing. “It was now, or potentially never,” added Rinella. “This opportunity was a chance I didn’t want to miss, so I had to act fast.”
