Area Youths, Families Invited to AIM Grand National Youth Trapshooting Championships
OutdoorHub 04.22.14
The Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA), based in Sparta Illinois, is the National Governing Body of American Style Trapshooting and in 2009, AIM, the Official Youth Program of the Amateur Trapshooting Association, was founded because the ATA believes that it is their obligation to promote a premier program for the development and recognition of young trapshooting athletes everywhere.
The AIM Program has grown in membership 79% nationwide from the first year to 2013 and continues to grow and promote that there is a sport available for students not well-suited for other typical athletics. This gives those students the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of shooting registered competition on a level playing field as an individual and/or as a team. Since the AIM Program was introduced the average age of an ATA Member has gone from 50 to 47 years old.
The purpose of AIM is to provide a safe and positive experience with firearms and registered trapshooting with youth, elementary school through college age. AIM Students have the opportunity to apply for 9+ Scholarships. AIM encourages good sportsmanship and personal responsibility through competition while establishing the foundation to make trapshooting a lifelong avocation. In fact, AIM offers more competitions for youth shooters than any other Youth Trapshooting Organization.
AIM National Director, Emily Zollner, would like to invite the areas youth and families to attend this year’s AIM Grand National Youth Trapshooting Championships that will take place at the World Shooting and Recreational complex in Sparta, IL, August 2-5, 2014. Along with the Championship Shoots in each discipline, there are seminars and events scheduled as well as shooting games for those involved. Bring the entire family out to experience Trapshooting and learn of the benefits for your child.
