Magpul has an active year ahead of them. In addition to moving most of their company’s operations to Wyoming and Texas, they’ve recently begun shipping the PMAG 30 AK/AKM MOE (more commonly known as the “AK PMAG”) and have introduced the MS1 sling system and some sling-related accessories.
The popular firearms accessory manufacturer formally entered the AK aftermarket last year with the introduction of their MOE AK grip, and they’ve expanded their Kalashnikov offerings in the form of the PMAG 30 AK/AKM MOE Magazine. The AK PMAG is an all-polymer, 30-round mag that brings Magpul quality and affordability to a sector of the AK world that’s had a distinct lack of options that offer both attributes in one package. The company has announced that an AK PMAG with steel reinforcements in the right places will be forthcoming. In the meantime, the $13.95 PMAG 30 AK/AKM MOE will likely find its way into many AK shooters’ range bags—if not their battle belts.
New in 2014, the MS1 Sling System will provide users with a modular setup capable of meeting a variety of tactical needs. It’s built around the base two-point MS1 sling, which incorporates Magpul’s new slider. The slider allows an operator to adjust slack in a remarkably quick, yet secure manner. The MS1 can be outfitted with a number of sling accessories according to the operator’s needs, including QD attachments, paraclips, and the MS3, MS3-QD, and MS4 adapters. The MS1 sling will also form the backbone of new “GEN 2” editions of the MS3, MS3-QD, and MS4 slings shipping this year. The slings will be offered in black, coyote, ranger green, and stealth gray. The MS1 alone will retail for $34.95.
Magpul has also introduced the MSA-QD MOE and ASAP-QD. The former is a rotation-limited attachment point for QD slings that will mount to MOE forends with a bit of hand-fitting. The latter is a replacement for the standard AR-15 stock receiver end plate and will work with all QD sling swivels. Both are made from Melonite-finished steel. Prices for both items have not been announced.
