Though they have supplied AR-platform parts and firearms to law enforcement and military buyers for several years, FNH USA has never formally sold such items on the “civilian” market. This year, that is changing, and FNH USA is jumping into the Modern Sporting Rifle world with two new firearms.
The FN 15 Carbine is a semiautomatic M4-pattern AR that mimics the M4 carbine currently used by the United States Armed Forces. It utilizes a direct impingement action with a carbine-length gas system. Its 16-inch barrel features an A2-style flash hider and front sight post. The FN 15 Carbine’s six-position adjustable stock is mounted on a mil-spec buffer tube. The railed, flat-top upper features a removable M16 carry handle. With the stock completely collapsed, it is 31.9 inches long; with the stock fully extended, the Carbine is 35.2 inches long.
The FN 15 Rifle is a semiautomatic M16A2-pattern firearm that emulates the longer rifle-length versions of the M16 still in use by the United States in a limited capacity. The FN 15 Rifle also utilizes the conventional direct impingement AR action with a rifle-length gas system. It sports a 20-inch barrel equipped with an A2-style flash hider and front sight post. Keeping with its “classic” specs, the FN 15 Rifle has a non-adjustable buttstock on a mil-spec buffer tube assembly. The FN 15 Rifle also has a railed, flat-top upper with a removable M16 carry handle. Its overall length is 39.5 inches.
Both the FN 15 Carbine and Rifle’s chrome-lined barrels are built using FN’s machine-gun tested manufacturing method. Both guns are properly chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge. The firearms are made in the same plant as FN’s military-order guns, but not on the same production lines.
The new guns are available now and are priced at $1,149.
