Minneapolis, Minn. August 23, 2011 – The Save the TaTas™ fishing team of Dean Kaminski and Kevin Kerkvliet have partnered with the Stillwater Ladies Night Out and the Excelsior Girls Night Out for a special fishing event. The goal: raise money and awareness for breast cancer. A perfect fit, since all three organizations, while somewhat unusually paired, tie-out to the cause in some way.
The communities in both Stillwater and Excelsior have special “Ladies Night Out” evenings planned this fall, and the two groups have decided to hit the water with a friendly wager: who can raise more money and awareness? The event will be a four-hour fish off on Lake Minnetonka on October 6th with representatives of each community in both Kaminski’s and Kerkvliet’s Save the TaTas™ pink-wrapped Ranger Boats.
“We’ve drawn a lot of attention with pink-wrapped Save the TaTas boats,” laughed professional angler, Dean Kaminski. “But it’s all for a good cause.” Kaminski’s 621 Ranger Boat with a 300 hp Evinrude will be on display at the Minnesota State Fair in the Frankie’s Live Bait and Marine booth. Fair goers can stop by and see the fancy rig from the #1 Ranger Boat dealer in the state of Minnesota.
“We’re so excited to tie in fishing to our Girls Night Out cause event,” shared Natalie Hagemo of Excelsior. Their event is Thursday evening, October 6th. “The lake is such a big part of our Excelsior community. And wait until you see these beautiful pink boats. It will make you smile to help with something that touches so many of us—breast cancer.”
The Stillwater gals are cut of the same cloth. “For us, it’s the St. Croix river,” shared Vienette Olson of the Main Street Stillwater Independent Business Alliance. Their event is Thursday, September 15th. “But we couldn’t agree more that our community’s culture also thrives being on the water and folks here embrace their fishing. So we’re proud to kick off this new event.”
Each community has pledged to raise at least $500 for the head-to-head competition. The fishing team, sponsored by Save the TaTas™, is donating their time and expertise. “We’re happy to do this,” shared Kerkvliet. “And I don’t mind going a little mano y mano with Dean to see which of us brings in the heaviest basket, either.” Both the weight of the fish, and the fundraising total, will combine with a unique formula to determine the winner of the contest. The public can certainly help, and even put a little side wager on the Stillwater gals or the Excelsior gals. Stop by their “nights out” and make a difference.
Kaminski’s and Kerkvliet’s other sponsors are also thrilled to help. Donations from the sponsors help cover the real expenses for the anglers. “We’re proud of the work these two guys are doing,” shared George Liddle of Liddle Marketing Company, the Midwest sales organization for Ranger Boats, and sponsor of the Save the TaTas™ fishing team. “We hope lots of folks will come down to the State Fair and stop by Frankie’s booth to see the pink Ranger Boats. Since my son’s mother is also a breast cancer survivor, I’ll step up for the first $100 to each community toward their $500 goal. Breast cancer hits home for many of us.”
Frankie’s boat display will be on Machinery Hill at the Fairgrounds all ten days of the Great Minnesota Get-together. Look for the big pink Ranger Boat.
