Atlantic Herring “Days Out” Meeting in New Hampshire Scheduled for September 12, 2011

DURHAM, N.H. — The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Atlantic Herring Section will hold a meeting on Monday, September 12, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., to discuss the allowable number of ‘days out’ for commercial herring harvesters. The meeting will be held at the Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth NH, 03801.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss ‘days out’ measures in Area 1A for the October 1 – December 31, 2011, season.

Vessels may currently land Atlantic herring taken from Area 1A on any day of the week through the remainder of the June 1-September 30 season. Landings will be monitored closely and landing days will be reduced if necessary.
Directions to the Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth, N.H.: From Portsmouth Traffic Circle, take the Route 1 Bypass South exit off circle. Merge with Route 1 and go through five traffic lights. Turn left at sixth light onto Elwyn Road.
