Attitash Mountain Resort and Wildcat Mountain Feel Effects of Tropical Storm Irene

Bartlett & Pinkham Notch, NH – Attitash Mountain Resort & Wildcat Mountain are among those businesses recovering from tropical storm Irene’s heavy rains and wind that flooded many parts of the state. Efforts were already underway at Attitash Monday morning to clean-up significant mud and rock that washed down from the mountain and covered much of the main base lodge area. Less is know currently at Wildcat Mountain about possible effects of the storm because a major section of Rt. 16 between Glen and Gorham, New Hampshire remained closed at the time of this press release and has effectively shut off access to Pinkham Notch.

In addition to the heavy wash-out, Attitash Mountain Resort’s new Mountain Coaster will remain closed until necessary grading around the base area can be completed and structural track supports can be secured again and inspected for operation. It is not known at this time when the newest attraction at Attitash Mountain Resort will re-open because all efforts are focused on cleaning up the base area, inspecting for safety, and re-opening all other summer attractions as soon as possible this week and before the upcoming Labor Day weekend. It is expected too that Wildcat Mountain will be able to make similar efforts as necessary to re-open this week.

Both Wildcat Mountain and Attitash Mountain Resort plan to re-open and operate as soon as possible this week following all required work to inspect attractions for safety and clean-up after the storm. For Attitash Mountain Resort, it is best to visit www.attitash.com or call 1 (800) 223-7669 for the most up-to-date operating information this week and this fall when operating weekends through Columbus Day. For Wildcat Mountain, it is best to visit www.skiwildcat.com or call 1 (888) 754-9453 for the most up-to-date operating information this week and this fall when continuing to operate daily until Sunday, October 16.
