Online Registration Open for the Sixth Annual Arkansas Tech University Invitational

San Antonio, TX – September 9, 2011 – The Arkansas Tech University Fishing Club, an Association of Collegiate Anglers club, has opened online registration for their Sixth Annual Arkansas Tech University Invitational. The event is October 21-22, 2011 and will be held at Lake Dardanelle State Park in Russellville, AR. Anglers will be treated to a banquet prior to the pretournament meeting Thursday, October 20 at the Hughes Center in Russellville, AR.

This is an open event for any university-recognized collegiate fishing teams in the country. Online Registration and the Angler Info Packets are being hosted courtesy of the Association of Collegiate Anglers at: http://www.collegiatebasschampionship.com/tournament-schedule.html. Registration will run now through Friday, October 7, 2011.

In conjunction with the event ATU is hosting a “Fill the Boat” food drive on behalf of the Main Street Mission of Russellville. Competitors are encouraged to bring a box of dry breakfast cereal to the banquet Thursday evening. According to Christy Austin, Founder of the ATU Fishing Club, “This will be our second year for this community program. It was great last year watching the boat fill up over the course of the evening. Our final count was a donation of 250 boxes of cereal to the Main Street Mission. We hope to do even better this year, so we are encouraging everyone that attends to make a contribution.”

“Going into its sixth year, this is a successful event for Arkansas Tech University Fishing Club, and we think the food drive is a great way to give back to the community,” said Danny Blandford, Program Director with the ACA. “With our collegiatebasschampionship.com website, we have the ability to help these students with promotion of their event, online registration, and communication with other collegiate anglers in their area. It is our pleasure to help the fishing club at Arkansas Tech University. We encourage other students looking for help to contact us. We’ll gladly offer these services for recognized programs.”

The Arkansas Tech University, based in Russellville, started their college fishing club in 2006. The club holds the honor of the first collegiate club in Arkansas, as well the distinction of a championship winner in 2006 with College B.A.S.S. Since that time, membership has grown to 35 members and a very active club. The ATU Fishing Club is active in their community as well, hosting benefit tournaments, food drives, and elementary school outreach.
