MGM Tactical has been selected as the bullet trap, target and range equipment supplier for the largest indoor shooting range in the country, the planned Colonial Shooting Academy in Richmond, Virginia. Located in the old Colony House Furniture building in Henrico County, construction is scheduled to be completed in February 2012.
The facility will have multiple ranges, private and public, a shoot house, retail selling area, offices, café, classrooms and member lounge to name just a few of the many upscale features. The facility will include five separate ranges. One tactical range with 11 lanes, two ranges on the mezzanine level, one with 11 lanes and one with 14 lanes both about 25 yards long and two additional private ranges with seven lanes each. All ranges are designed with acoustical tiles for sound deadening. A 1590 square foot shoot house will be constructed in the basement of the building and will feature multiple entries, breach doors and multiple rooms.
Paul Harward project manager for MGM Targets headquartered in Idaho stated, “Fitting this project into an existing building offered its own unique problems and opportunities. It’s exciting to be involved in the design of the ranges and be able to meet their specifications. We are looking forward to getting this project underway. Teaming with Paul LaFrance, director of MGM Tactical, the duo has been working with the owners since early this year to develop the perfect package for the application.
The CSA (www.colonialshooting.com) owners and management selected MGM Tactical for all their bullet containment needs after an exhaustive search. They choose MGM Tactical because of their “Impact” system rifle grade shoot house along with their “Deep V” .50 caliber capability bullet traps for the public ranges and a “shoot close” granulated rubber bullet trap for the tactical range.
