Bellingham, WA September 8, 2011 — McNett®, the outdoor industry leader in personal care, water treatment and gear care and repair products for nearly 30 years, is pleased to announce bronze-level “spawnsorship” of the Bellingham Traverse multi-sport challenge. Based in Bellingham, WA, McNett has donated more than $1,000 in prizes for the event to reward community members for their involvement.
“We selectively partner with Northwest-based companies to provide for a sustainable event,” said Todd Elsworth, creator and race director of the Bellingham Traverse. “Individuals and teams have raised over $60,000 for the local or regional non-profits of their choice through the Traverse as a vehicle for fundraising and McNett’s contributions are a great way to reward our participants.”
The Bellingham Traverse is a 30-mile relay consisting of a 7-mile run, 6-mile single-track mountain bike ride, 18-mile road bike loop, 3.5-mile trail run, 4-mile canoe or kayak paddle and 0.5-mile trek to the finish line at Boundary Bay Brewery. About the Bellingham Traverse
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Bellingham Traverse is a multi-sport challenge that celebrates the lifecycle of salmon and the impact that they have had on our lives and community. Soloists, tandem and relay teams compete for survival on the 40-mile course, which follows the urban greenways and roads through Bellingham. The course then heads out into the open water of Bellingham Bay finishing at a hidden beach at the end of Cornwall Avenue. From there all teams gather to finish the last leg together as they “trek” the last 1/2 mile to the finish line at the Depot Market Square and Boundary Bay Brewery.
