Washington’s Online Hunter Safety Course Features New Videos
Hunter-ed 10.21.11
New videos produced by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are now available on their online hunter safety course at www.hunter-ed.com/washington.
Hunter-ed.com/washington features videos on the following topics: crossing obstacles, safe carries, muzzle control, transporting firearms safely, safe zones of fire, using hunter orange, tree stand safety, and using decoys and blinds. Students can view these videos and study for free at hunter-ed.com/washington, paying only when they pass their hunter certification exam. Plus, they can study at their convenience.
“These videos were developed to demonstrate the skills needed to become a safe hunter,” said Eric Anderson, hunter education program manager for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. “They reinforce course lessons in a realistic hunting setting, which adds to the overall experience for visual learners.”
Students who must receive their hunter education certification to obtain a hunting license pay a one-time fee of $19.50, which is due only if they pass the test. Students can take the test as many times as they need to pass it. To complete the hunter education requirements for Washington, students must pass both the online course and the range skills evaluation session provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Before completing and paying for a hunter exam certificate, students should check the Department’s website for an available range skills evaluation session. http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/huntered/classes/online.php
All hunters born after January 1, 1972, are required to show proof they have completed a hunter education course or possess a previous Washington hunting license before purchasing a new license to hunt in Washington.
Hunter-ed.com has been reviewed and approved by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and contains the same hunter safety content as the classroom course. To take this course, visit www.hunter-ed.com/washington.
