Michaela Lee was walking with her dog near her Lakewood, Washington home the same way she does on a regular basis. At about 1:30 pm her dog, Madison, chased two raccoons up a tree. When Lee approached the tree several raccoons emerged from a nearby bush and attacked.
Lee turned and ran. “I was trying to run for the neighbor’s front door.” Said Lee. “But the raccoons were between my legs and tripped me. I fell to the ground, and they were on me.”
She received over 100 lacerations and 16 puncture wounds. While the attack was brutal, Lee described the treatment as the worst part of the ordeal. “I had to get an injections in every single puncture wound. And the only ones that were numbed were the ones that were so opened up they had to be stapled together.”
Despite the attack Lee continues to walk the trail every day.
Her boyfriend has bought her pepper spray in case she has another encounter with the raccoons.
