Blennerhassett Island Seeks Traditional Craftsman and Artisans for Apple Butter Weekend September 1-2

Blennerhassett Island State Park’s Apple Butter Weekend is scheduled for September 1 and 2 this year. As usual, the Stillwell 4-H club will be stirring and selling their homemade apple butter during the two days, but the park also is planning to expand this event to include artisans who make traditional crafts.
The park is looking for crafters who are broom makers, candle dippers, basket weavers, soap makers, weavers, spinners, quilters, blacksmiths, wood turners, potters, artists, and others who may be interested in participating in Apple Butter Weekend.
“This event has always been a well-attended and we would like to see this event grow even more,” according to Pam Salisbury, event coordinator. The event also is seeking musicians who play traditional music to be part of a “river jam” during Apple Butter weekend. “We’d like to add a little more to the event ‘to make the best better’ by following the 4-H motto,” Salisbury said.
