AMA Pro ATV Racing Heads to RedBud National
myatvblog 07.26.12
All eyes are focused on AMA Pro ATV riders Chad Wienen and defending champion John Natalie at this weekend’s RedBud MX in Buchanan, Michigan. Wienen holds a slight lead in race 9 of a 10 race event.
With two races remaining, the competition is heating up. Chad Wienen is coming off of a two race winning streak on his Wienen Motorsports/SSi Decals/Walsh Race Craft Yamaha.
A lot is on the line for John Natalie, a two time ATVMX champion. Natalie isn’t about to let Wienen walk away with the Pro ATVMX title. Prior to Wienen’s winning streak, Natalie had a two race streak going as well in rounds 5 and 6. There is no telling how this race will play out with two great riders battling it out for the title.
Not to be counted out… the Pro ATVMX has a deep field of talent and has produced some of the best racing in series history in 2012. In only his second season, Motoworks/Can-Am’s Joel Hetrick holds the most overall wins and several podium finishes and is considered a threat to steal a win . Hetrick has had some struggles this season and is a long shot at best to win the title.
Whoever wins this weekend’s event will carry momentum into the Loretta Lynn’s finale.
The pro ATV riders will race Saturday as part of a full schedule of amateur racing, including classes for Youth, Women and Veteran riders. Amateurs will practice on Friday and race on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets on Saturday are $20 for spectators ($10 for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro-pit access and an autograph session.
