Arizona OHV Decal Program Celebrates 3rd Anniversary

The Arizona Game and Fish Department reminds operators of ATVs, dirt-bikes and other off-highway vehicles that their vehicle needs to display a valid OHV Decal in order to operate in the state of Arizona, with the exception of on private property.
The OHV Decal program went into effect Jan. 1, 2009. Many OHV users in Arizona purchased their decal in January to be in compliance with the program, and Game and Fish reminds those who typically purchase or renew their decal in January that your renewal deadline is approaching.
Paper OHV Decal renewal notices are being sent out by the department. If you choose, you can get an OHV Decal renewal notice in your e-mail inbox by signing up at http://azgfdeservices.com/ohvlogin.aspx.
Keep in mind that the notice is just a reminder. You’ll need to purchase or renew your OHV Decal through any Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) office, any MVD third-party service provider, or online at www.servicearizona.com. (The OHV Decal link is in the “All Services” section at the bottom of that page. Your OHV Decal number is the same as your plate number.)
If your vehicle is made by the manufacturer for use over unimproved terrain and weighs 1,800 pounds or less, it is required to display a valid OHV Decal regardless of what type of license plate you have. Many “street-legal” vehicle owners need to have the OHV Decal on their vehicle, and in most cases, the decal will allow for free registration and a reduced vehicle license tax (VLT). Always make sure you renew your OHV Decal first, then renew registration to receive the free registration and reduced VLT benefit.
Dollars from the OHV Decal program have already been used on trail improvement projects in the White Mountains, clean-up projects around the Phoenix metro area, to support the OHV Ambassador program, to create new OHV outreach materials, to create an Arizona-specific online OHV education program, and to hire nine new OHV enforcement officers.
