Columbia River Sturgeon Fishery Extended in The Dalles Pool

Action:   Extends the retention period of legal-size white sturgeon beyond the scheduled July 31 closure date

Location:   Waters of the Columbia River and tributaries from The Dalles Dam upstream to John Day Dam

Species affected:   White sturgeon

Effective Dates:   Fishing is open daily Aug. 1 through Aug. 4.  Beginning Aug. 5, 2012 until further notice, retention allowed only on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays.

Daily Limit: One white sturgeon between 43-54 inches in fork length

Reason for action: A balance of 140 white sturgeon remain on the recreational harvest guideline (300 fish) for The Dalles Pool.
