Defending Camp Perry champ edges ahead in NRA competition.
Port Clinton, Ohio – Though we are just two matches into the twelve that make up the High Power Championship, every shot counts. One competitor who knows that all too well is NRA 2011 champion Carl Bernosky.
After firing a 198-9x in the Member’s Trophy match and 200-18x in the Scott Trophy match, Bernosky sits now with a top score of 398-27x, marginally ahead of the United States Army Marksmanship Unit’s SSG Tyrell Cooper and SGT Sherri Gallagher who are tied at 398-20x. Not much room. Especially when considering that Sherri won her first NRA High Power title in 2010 and is hungry for more.
The day’s last match, where the top shot will win the Coast Artillery trophy, is currently underway. Bernosky’s 7x lead is good, but not insurmountable in such an early round. He has to stay on top of his game as one misplaced shot could put him behind Cooper and Gallagher while they make their run.
Just a couple more hours and we’ll see how it plays out.
