OutdoorHub 09.04.12
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host an event Sept. 22 in Warrenton aimed at helping residents of the St. Louis region rid their homes and farms of unwanted pesticides and related chemicals.
This event is one of several scheduled throughout the summer that will allow Missouri households and farmers to safely and legally dispose of pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides, de-wormers, fly tags and fertilizers containing herbicides or pesticides.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Regional Recycling Center, 24448 S. Highway 47. It is open to any Missouri resident. The next event will be held Oct. 6 in Kennett. Event details will be announced as they become available. The Warrenton collection is the eighth of nine such scheduled events that began June 9 in Neosho and will continue as long as funding remains.
More information on the department’s Missouri Pesticide Collection program is available online: dnr.mo.gov/env/hwp/pesticide/. The program is funded through a hazardous waste enforcement settlement that resulted in more than $1 million being set aside for the effort. The department has hired an independent contractor to conduct the collection events under the supervision of the department of Natural Resources.
