2012 SHOT Show Day Two Wrap-up

Another day, another bunch of guns. My second day walking the floor at SHOT yielded just as many cool results as the first official day and Media Day. Just like I wrote for day one, I’m going to try to fit as much unique stuff into a brief post as I can with as many details and pictures.

Milsurpers, rejoice! If you’ve been looking for a cheap way to own an STG-44 type rifle and shoot it, your prayers have been answered in the form of German Sport Guns’ STG-44 in .22LR. It’s an affordable clone of the gun that many consider to be the original assault rifle. American Tactical Imports (ATI) will be bringing them into the country somewhere around summer time selling for around $600. They’ll ship with a 10-round mag and ATI plans on introducing hi-cap mags not long after.

Stag Arms is bringing a new contender to the 3-Gun competition rifle category this year with their 3G AR. It features an 18” stainless steel fluted heavy barrel, Geissele Super 3-Gun trigger, Samson Evolution handguard, a Magpul ACS buttstock and a MOE pistol grip. As is typical with Stag’s offerings, the 3G is also offered in left-handed versions.

Another new AR to be released on the market this year is Smith & Wesson’s M&P15 MOE Mid. It has a mid-length gas system, an official Magpul and S&W co-branded, forged lower, a patent-pending S&W flash hider and a 16” barrel with a 1 in 8” twist. It’s outfitted with Magpul furniture and has a flared magwell for better magazine insertion.

Leupold’s got some cool new offerings this year with their Redfield Revenge line and the VXR “zombie” rifle scope. Leupold just recently resurrected the Redfield brand name and they’re stepping up their game this year with the Revenge line. The Revenge scopes feature a patent-pending reticle that makes determining distance to your target easy as pie. Combined with all their other features, the Revenge scopes are high-quality and effective optics at an economic price point.

Another one of the scopes Leupold had on display was the VXR “zombie hunting” scope (shown above). It’s got all the bells and whistles of a typical Leupold scope with a few unique features like a green dot reticle for quick undead target acquisition. They’re set for a limited run this year, so be sure to get yours when you can.

Finally, one of the last pieces I got my hands on was the new Glock 32 Gen4 pistol in .357 Sig. It has a 4” barrel with a an overall length of 7.3”and weighs about 21 ounces without a magazine. It combines the size of old .38 compacts with the power and effectiveness of the .357 round. Glock describes it as a “magnumized” Glock 19 and it definitely plays the part.
