OutdoorHub 09.14.12
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host an event Oct. 6 in Kennett aimed at helping southeast Missouri residents rid their homes and farms of unwanted pesticides and related chemicals.
The event will allow Missouri households and farmers to safely and legally dispose of pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides, de-wormers, fly tags and fertilizers containing herbicides or pesticides.
The pesticide collection runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kennett compost station, 18464 County Road 508. It is open to any Missouri resident. The Kennett event is the last of nine such events that began June 9 in Neosho.
More information on the Missouri Pesticide Collection Program is available online: dnr.mo.gov/env/hwp/pesticide/. The program is funded through a hazardous waste enforcement settlement that resulted in more than $1 million being set aside for the effort. The department has hired an independent contractor to conduct the collection events under the supervision of the department.
