Minnesota DNR Promotes Four Conservation Officers

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has promoted four conservation officers to lieutenant and district supervisor.
Stacey Sharp was named Bemidji area enforcement supervisor, which includes Becker, Beltrami, Clay, Clearwater, Norman, Otter Tail and Polk counties. Dan Thomasen is the new Two Harbors area enforcement supervisor. The area includes Cook, Lake, and St. Louis counties. Brent Speldrich will be the Mille Lacs area enforcement supervisor entailing Aitkin, Crow Wing, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties. The New Ulm area enforcement supervisor is Wayne Hatlestad.

“Each of these officers possesses courage, leadership, and ability,” said Col. Jim Konrad, DNR Enforcement director. “I am confident that they will continue the proud tradition of the department. My sincere congratulations go out to them for these well-deserved promotions.”

OFFICER INFORMATION

  • Stacey Sharp was a Nebraska State Trooper from 1983-2005. He joined the DNR in 2006 and has served in the Bemidji and Thief River Falls field stations before assuming his new duties.
  • Dan Thomasen was a Minnesota State Trooper for 16 years stationed in Minneapolis, International Falls and Two Harbors. He has been stationed in Two Harbors since joining the DNR in 2007.
  • Brent Speldrich joined the DNR in 2001 serving in the McGregor station, as Northeast ATV recreation specialist, and as acting Brainerd area enforcement supervisor prior to his promotion. He had been a deputy in the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Department prior to joining the DNR.
  • Wayne Hatlestad has worked as a conservation officer since 2001 in field stations in Hutchinson and Litchfield. He had been the acting New Ulm area enforcement supervisor prior to his promotion. Hatlestad was a deputy sheriff for the McLeod County Sheriff’s Department from 1996 to 2001.
