Minnesota DNR to Offer Naturalist-Guided ATV Ride on Moose Walk/Moose Run ATV Trail
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will offer an opportunity to experience autumn on a naturalist-guided ATV trail ride through the North Shore Highlands from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
This program will take place on a nine-mile segment of the Moose Walk/Moose Run Trail in Finland State Forest. At stops along the trail, the interpretive program will explore the changes the forest undergoes as it prepares for winter. The program is free, but participants need to bring their own class I or class II ATVs. Participants should also bring their own lunch to enjoy at one of the scenic stops.
“This is a great opportunity for people to experience nature and learn about our fall phenology in a new way,” said Tettegouche Area interpretive naturalist, Amy Funk. “This ride is quickly becoming a fall favorite and draws visitors from quite a distance.”
The Moose Walk/Moose Run Trail System connects to the Red Dot ATV trail, offering a combined total of more than 50 miles of ATV trail riding near the cities of Silver Bay and Finland. After the program, participants are encouraged to continue exploring the trails through the highlands’ rugged terrain.
The ride is limited to 15 ATVs, so participants should register in advance. For information or to reserve a spot, call 218-226-6365.
