Ryan Kirby was born with a rare gift – the ability to take oil paint and a canvas and brilliantly recreate rare and iconic moments from the great outdoors.
For the first time, Kirby, 29, is making his collection available to the public with his new web site, RyanKirbyArt.com.
The site showcases the latest and greatest works from Kirby, who has spent the last several years honing his artistic skill in front of a canvas and hunting many species of game in order to collect images to reference for his paintings.
“Hunting is what I’m most passionate about and painting allows me to share my love for the outdoors with others through my work,” says Kirby. “I’m excited about my web site launch and about displaying my work to the public for the first time at the NWTF convention in Nashville.”
Kirby, a hardcore turkey hunter, has chosen the National Wild Turkey Federation’s 36th Annual Convention and Sport Show to showcase his work to the public for the first time. The NWTF convention will take place Feb. 10 to Feb. 12 at Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort in Nashville. The Ryan Kirby Wildlife Art booth is #349 and can be found in the main exhibit hall.
“I’m excited to meet all the hunters and wildlife art enthusiasts at the NWTF convention,” says Kirby. “I want to hear feedback on my paintings. I want to know what each person wants to see in a painting so I can try capture it in my work.”
Conservation and helping wildlife has always been a top priority for Kirby. He plans to donate 10 percent of his in-the-booth sales to the NWTF. He’ll also host a giveaway for an original, one-of-a-kind piece of wild turkey art open to anyone who stops by and enters at the Ryan Kirby Wildlife Art booth.
Kirby’s career as a wildlife artist was jumpstarted in 2010 when his painting, “Turkey Country,“ was chosen as the NWTF’s Stamp Print of the Year. Since then, Kirby has hunted moose in Alaska, elk in Montana and wild turkeys and white-tailed deer in several states – all in an effort to collect references for his paintings.
At RyanKirbyArt.com, each painting is accompanied with the story behind the painting and details about what inspired Kirby. Some of the paintings include, “Boys Night Out,” which features two giant white-tailed bucks in full velvet, “Posting Up,” an iconic image of a large, alert white-tailed buck and a fresh rub and “Swamp Patrol,” which features two long-spurred Osceola gobblers on the lookout for hens in the spring.
