Salomon, one of the world’s fastest growing footwear companies, is proud to announce that the latest innovation in its award-winning Speedcross trail running family has won again with the new Snowcross CS winter running shoe.
Today Outside Magazine announced the Winter 2013 winners of the Gear of the Year awards, featured in the Outside winter Buyer’s Guide. The Salomon Snowcross CS was chosen as the top running shoe.
The Outside winter Buyer’s Guide highlights the very best in adventure gear and calls out the best values in each class. Now in its 18th year, Outside’s biannual Buyer’s Guides reach more than 1.3 million frequent gear purchasers and includes issues in print, online and for iPad.
The Salomon Snowcross CS is a lightweight running shoe adapted to deep winter training. Here’s what Outside Magazine has to say about it:
From Outside Magazine Winter Buyer’s Guide–This is the most winter-specific running shoe we’ve ever seen, with an above-the-ankle gaiter, glove-friendly one-pull laces, ankle pads to prevent snowshoe bruising and nine carbide-metal spikes embedded in those big snow lugs for goatline grip even on black ice. While all of this makes pounding out miles in depths of winter fun, the reason the Snowcross CS earned our highest honor is that incorporated underneath that water-resistant gaiter is a real running shoe—Salomon’s superfast, nimble Speedcross, which won our Gear of the year nod in 2010. This winterized version has the same racing DNA: fast, extremely smooth and low to the ground for great trail feel. Most impressive: despite all the winter armor, it still weighs less than some runner-only shoes.
The Snowcross CS is the latest in the tried-and-true Salomon Speedcross footwear family. In 2010, Outside Magazine chose the revolutionary Speedcross shoe as its Gear of the Year. Since then, the Speedcross line has developed to include three generations of upgrades, ClimaShield weather protection, and an inspiring color palette. The family consists of the low-profile Fellcross, the Spikecross 3 CS (winner of Runner’s World Magazine International Editor’s Choice in 2011) and the new Snowcross CS.
“We’re proud of the Snowcross CS and this awesome award it’s brought home to the Speedcross family,” says Salomon USA Footwear Category Manager Lauren Barra. “Salomon runners don’t go inside when the weather gets nasty. So it’s important that we built something with excellent protection without compromising speed and agility. We’re pleased that Outside Magazine put our features and technologies through the ringer to help runners make a good choice this fall and winter.”
