Sierra Designs Hires Industry Veterans Jim Trombly and Martin Flora, Boasts Strongest Team Yet

Iconic outdoor brand Sierra Designs is proud to announce the recent hiring of Product Director Jim Trombly and Creative Director Martin Flora, the latest additions to a growing team dedicated exclusively to the Sierra Designs brand.

Helping to move Sierra Designs in a new direction, Trombly and Flora will bring new energy and insight to the brand.  With years of experience working with a variety of outdoor companies, the duo will be an integral part in developing new technologies and cutting edge products, helping Sierra Designs to grow and expand.

“With the level of experience and talent Jim and Martin bring to the table, Sierra Designs now boasts the strongest, most experienced, most winning team in the industry,” said Michael Glavin, Vice President for Sierra Designs.  “From the original 60/40 Parka to our more recent DriDown™ hydrophobic insulation, Sierra Designs is responsible for bringing some of the most innovative outdoor equipment and apparel to the outdoor marketplace and our new, dedicated team fully intends on continuing that tradition.”

Both Trombly and Flora have a proven track record of success in product and apparel design.  Before joining Sierra Designs, they worked together at the Ashland, OR-based Massif Mountain Gear, creating high performance apparel for a variety of professional organizations working and operating in some of the world’s most extreme conditions.

Jim’s career includes design and product successes at several prominent outdoor companies.  As a Product Manager with MSR, Jim helped develop one of the best-selling micro stoves of all time.  While at Patagonia, he conceived the Nano Puff style, helping to change the way outdoor enthusiasts keep warm.  As Product Director, Jim will be tasked with product marketing and management of the entire Sierra Designs line.

Martin has enjoyed a highly successful career in the apparel design industry.  His education includes an advanced degree from the Chambre Syndicale de La Haute Couture Parisienne in Paris. Martin uses his technical training both in fabric and apparel design to create innovative problem-solving gear.  He has designed highly successful outdoor products for prominent companies such as Columbia Sportswear and Dick’s Sporting Goods and most recently secured several technical design patents as the Design Director for Massif Mountain Gear.
