NRA Preparing for 2012 Collegiate Championships
NRAblog 02.13.12
Scorecards from NRA Intercollegiate Sectionals will begin rolling in from across the United States this week. They’ll arrive here at NRA Headquarters in hopes of qualifying for the 2012 Army Strong Collegiate Shooting Championships.
Tori Croft, National Manager of Collegiate & Schools, and her team will go through the more than 30 sectionals held this year to make sure each and every scorecard is correct. Once everything is approved, they’ll enter the numbers into the database – which can take some time.
Once the scores are officially recorded in 1’s and 0’s, the NRA Collegiate Program will determine who receives an invitation to this year’s intercollegiate championships.
For the NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championships, the top ten teams and top thirty individual shooters in each gun – smallbore and air rifle – are extended invitations to travel down to Georgia for the competition.
The NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships, which feature five types of guns, are a little different. Like Rifle, the top ten teams and top thirty shooters in each of the three Open Gun categories receive invitations. Two of the pistols championship, however, are women-only with the top fifteen female Air Pistol shooters and top fifteen Sport Pistol shooters getting invites. The top five women’s teams across both pistols categories are invited to the championships as well.
The NRA Intercollegiate Club Rifle Championships and NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships will take place March 13-18 as part of the inaugural Army Strong Collegiate Shooting Championships at Fort Benning and you can expect NRAblog to be there covering the action.
