Arizona Game and Fish Department Produces an OHV Safety Movie

The Arizona Game and Fish Department has made off-highway vehicle and driver safety a priority in 2012. In an effort to improve education and awareness on the trails and off, the department has produced a 28-minute film about OHV safety. In 2010, Arizona experienced eight off-highway vehicle fatalities and in 2011 that number rose to 29. The Arizona Game and Fish Department in cooperation with the Southwest Alliance for Recreational Safety (SWA4RS) have produced this movie to educate the public regarding OHV safety and to get the message out to all who participate in OHV recreation.
The Southwest Alliance for Recreational Safety is a volunteer group of members from the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Banner Cardon Children’s Medical Center, Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, John C. Lincoln Hospitals, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Palumbo Wolfe & Palumbo, P.C. This organization has one common goal in mind, the safety of all recreational enthusiasts.
Unlike most other safety films,“One Short Ride” tells the story of a guy, a typical AZ outdoor enthusiast, who after making several good decisions makes one bad one. It’s a decision that could cost him his life and in the end, it provides all of us with insights about how to prepare for a safe and enjoyable day riding OHVs in Arizona. It’s a good story, a story that almost everyone can relate to and can provide every rider with information that makes our trails safer and everyone’s off-highway experience more enjoyable. Oh, and in case you don’t know what SIPDE is – check out the movie. It’s coming Nov. 1 on DVD and on-line. Watch for it, and then watch it. Because it could save your life.
The movie premier will be held at the Arizona Game and Fish Department State Office located at 5000 W. Carefree Highway on Thursday, Nov.1, 2012, at 8 a.m. The public is invited to attend the premier to hear testimonials from injury survivors, medical professionals and OHV law enforcement members. Due to limited space, only the first 200 members of the public will be allowed in the location of the premier and will be given a free copy of the DVD. After the movie premiere a free Copy of the DVD will be made available by contacting the Arizona Game and Fish Department or SWA4RS. There will be representatives from OHV industry on hand who are in support of this effort.
