Lendell Martin and Jason Moore Claim Championship
With two titles on the line this past weekend, The Texas Team Trail presented by Cabela’s ended its season on Lake Amistad this past weekend with an exciting finish. The much anticipated championship event featured 55 of the top teams of the season with the championship and Team of the Year titles on the line.
The champions of the event were Lendell Martin and Jason Moore with their two-day total of 35.66-pounds of largemouth bass. The win netted the two anglers a new Ranger upgraded Z520 with an Evinrude motor, angler advantage money ($880) and Cabela’s Angler Cash bonus ($1,000 Cabela’s gift card), which all totaled came to a payday of $46,880.
Ranger Boat dealer, Jim Criswell and his wife Gail Criswell took second place winning a Ranger Z119, an upgrade for being Ranger Cup qualified, with a Mercury motor valued at $34,000. The fish for the duo came on top water, jigs and crankbaits. Big bass honors and the $275 award went to the team of Seth Kelm and Dee Trammell for their 9.66-pound giant.
Teams qualified for the championship event by entering and fishing every event held this year. The final two-day event had a dramatic impact on the Team of the Year (TOY) race presented by Lucas Oil. With points worth double for the final event, placing was more key for this event. When the dust settled, Russell Cecil and Todd Castledine won the Lucas Oil Team of the Year rings. For their efforts, the duo will have entry fees paid for 2013. The team placed third in the final event, earning them $2,292.
Many of the tournaments were decided by narrow margins, and the Lucas Oil Team of the Year race shaped up to be quite the race. The Cabela’s sponsored team of Jeff Reynolds and angling partner Randall Bruce (569.00 points) narrowly missed victory over Russell Cecil and Todd Castledine (584.00 points.).
The final event also includes unprecedented media coverage, not only within the Lone Star State but across the country as well. Airing on multiple major networks, the Texas Team Trail will be seen on The Texas Channel, World Fishing Network, Pursuit Channel and the new NBC Sports Network.
“The Cabela’s Texas Team Trail was really fun to watch this year,” said Bart Schad of Texas Team Trail. “We are proud of the way all anglers embraced this new team trail, and we are very grateful for their participation and efforts. The entire staff looks forward to seeing everyone in the upcoming year.”
