SportsIndiana.org. has gotten a facelift. The new site is user-friendly and includes features such as an interactive community map, individual community sports venue pages, membership information and detailed information about the Sports Tourism Business Development Grant Program.
“This new website greatly simplifies the process of applying for and submitting grant requests for the Sports Tourism Business Development Grants offered through Sports Indiana,” said Jim Dietz, Vice President of Sports Indiana. “We certainly encourage all CVB’s or Sports Commissions in the state to consider membership in Sports Indiana and be included in this new website.”
The grant program is designed to provide financial help to support local CVBs, Sports Commissions or governmental agencies in attracting high quality sporting events in Indiana that generate a significant economic impact to local communities.
The LPGA Symetra Tour (My Marsh Classic), the USA Roller Sports National Championships and the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships are just a few of the events the Sports Tourism Business Development Grant Program has assisted in bringing to the state of Indiana. In partnership with the Indiana Office of Tourism Development, Sports Indiana has awarded $93,000 in grant money that has generated over $7 million dollars in tourism spending to the state of Indiana.
Amanda Gordon, Sports Marketing and Recreation Manager for Visit Lafayette-West Lafayette and member of the board for Sports Indiana said “Since its inception, Sports Indiana has been a collective effort to market the state of Indiana as THE Sports Destination for tournaments and organizations of all shapes and sizes. The website helps us get the message out there and the grant program helps us implement it.”
