The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites the public to review and comment on a proposal to authorize Grant-in-Aid (GIA) funding for the Northwoods-Soo Line ATV Trail in Beltrami County in northwestern Minnesota.
The county will sponsor the trail and provide trail monitoring, development and maintenance in cooperation with the Northwoods Riders OHV Club. Most of the trail, which is approximately 35 miles, passes through land owned by Beltrami County, where ATV use is permitted.
The proposed funding will support a managed ATV trail system that runs from the city of Bemidji to the Clearwater County line and includes the communities of Pinewood and Wilton, along with nearby amenities and recreation facilities. The trail will be designated for ATV use, although it will remain open for other recreational uses, such as mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and snowmobiling.
The DNR welcomes public input on the trail proposal. Copies of proposal and a project map are available for review at www.mndnr.gov/ohv-input (www.dnr.state.mn.us/input/mgmtplans/ohv/plans/northwoods_soo.html)
To request a printed copy, call 218-308-2367 or toll-free 888-646-6367.
