Industry Veteran Doug Howlett Named Gun Digest the Magazine Editor-in-Chief

Gun Digest and its parent company, F+W Media, are pleased to announce that Doug Howlett has accepted the position of Editor-in-Chief of Gun Digest the Magazine. Howlett’s appointment coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Gun Digest brand and an exciting magazine redesign that kicks off with the January 28, 2013, SHOT Show Issue.
Howlett, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, is a 20-year veteran of the shooting, hunting and outdoors industry. He brings a wealth of publishing experience to one of the oldest and most respected firearms industry brands.

A lifelong hunter and shooter, Howlett joined the industry as an assistant editor for the NRA’s American Hunter Magazine, before moving on to key editorial positions at the National Wild Turkey Federation, Outdoor Life Magazine and Grand View Media.
Most recently, the award-winning writer and editor has worked independently, delivering customized content on a regular basis to more than a dozen magazines and websites, as well as providing online, public relations and editorial product support to a number of corporations and organizations. He is the author of a book on AR-15s and regularly appears as a guest expert on Gallery of Guns television.
