Henrico, Va., resident Johnny Loving took a break from the cold conditions of Virginia to visit Anglers Inn International of Mazatlan, Mexico. He claimed the “Big Bass” award at Lake El Salto with his 11-pound, 7-ounce largemouth. Loving not only bagged the big bass, but they also caught over 300 fish during his 4-day fishing trip.
“This was the best fishing I’ve had in my life,” said Loving. “I’m 67 years old and have been fishing since I was 16, and I’ve never seen fishing this good. It is understandable that people have fears with Mexico right now, but with Anglers Inn International I’ve never felt safer. In all my years of going with Anglers Inn, I’ve never even seen as much as a fist fight. They make sure you are safe during your entire stay.”
When fishing El Salto the tackle selected becomes crucial as the lake has a strong reputation for trophy bass and big daily catches. Loving, spent the four days throwing a deep-diving crankbait in citrus shad color. The many big bass Loving caught were impressive with six fish over eight pounds, 66 fish over six pounds and three fish over nine pounds.
“The whole operation is world class,” said Loving. “I hit the fishing at just the right time, but it is always good at Anglers Inn. The staff and guides are very friendly and the fishing is great.”
The Anglers Inn staff has been guiding highly successful fishing trips since 1979. Located in the Sierra Madres, Anglers Inn sits right on the shores of Lake El Salto and offers full accommodations to fit any need.
