Wisconsin DNR Reminds Outdoorsmen That a Safe Hunt is a Good Hunt
OutdoorHub 11.16.12
A reminder from DNR Sec. Cathy Stepp
Part of my annual hunting tradition is to refresh myself with the four basic rules of firearm safety. I hope that you will do the same.
I use the acronym “TAB-K” to help me remember. That stands for:
- T (Treat every firearm as if it is loaded)
- A (Always point the muzzle in a safe direction)
- B (Be certain of your target and what’s beyond)
- K (Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until ready to shoot)
Wisconsin’s 9-day gun-deer season is safe and getting safer, thanks to hunters’ increased vigilance and the efforts of volunteer instructors and conservation wardens to help hunters learn basic hunting safety skills.
I hope you will take a moment today, the day before opening day, to watch this short video reminder about hunting safely. Please make TAB-K part of your hunting tradition.
