The Beta Factory Team finished their 2012 race season on a high note with Cody Webb finishing second overall in the Pro class and Max Gerston taking the Jr. Championship in the AMA Geico Endurocross series. Both riders made the double-main event at the series finale in Las Vegas this past weekend with Webb finishing a solid second in both motos and Gerston in ninth.
Webb describes his year, “With two main events at the finale in Vegas, I felt as if I had higher odds to beat out Taddy for my first victory of the year. My Beta 350 RR worked perfectly all night and got me through the tough rock section every lap. Both main events came down to the wire and even though I didn’t end my night with a win, I had an amazing finish with two seconds and pulled off second for the year. I can’t wait for next year to begin. With a second overall in both the Mototrial and Endurocross Championships there is only one step to go from here. Excited to see what my next two years with Beta brings us! I would like to say Thank you for the support from my team manager Alan Stillwell, my mechanic Jeff Lupear, as well as all of my other sponsors who have helped me this season. ”
Cody Webb will be training during the off-season for both Endurocross and Mototrial from his California home. Webb’s first race of the season will be the 2nd annual King of Motos Extreme Enduro held in Johnson Valley, California on February 3rd.
Beta team rider Max Gerston had a break-out ride at the final round making his first main event of the season and finishing a respectable ninth place in both main events earning him the 2012 MAVtv Junior Championship. Also on a Factory Beta 350 RR tuned by Stillwell Performance, Max is looking forward to the 2013 season.
“This year racing Endurocross started off a little rough for me. As the season progressed I had some pretty inconsistent finishes, but I knew I was on the brink of success. My relentless training and determination finally put my Beta in the main for the final round of Endurocross in Las Vegas, which had a double main event with double points. I placed 9th in both main events, earning me enough points to win the Endurocross Junior Championship, along with a 15th overall in points. This was a great way to end a very competitive and challenging year. My Stillwell Performance/Factory Beta 350 RR was tuned to perfection and ran perfectly throughout the year. As for 2012, the whole team at Stillwell Performance/American Beta was super fun and easy to work with. I am really looking forward to continuing my relationship with the team for 2013. The combination of great people and excellent equipment should result in a great year.” Gerston explains.
The Beta team will focus on preparing for the 2013 season and is planning a full-on assault on the Endurocross and Mototrial championships and with the recent signing Purvines Racing, the AMA Hare and Hound championships as well. Beta will focus on the quality of the team and improving the bikes for each discipline.
Team Manager Alan Stillwell describes the season, “I am so proud of our team! To end the year with National #2 and the Junior Championship is quite an accomplishment for Factory Beta/Stillwell Performance. Cody took his riding to another level and you could see the progression at each round. Max had a breakout ride in Vegas and I’m looking forward to getting him in the main event’s on a regular basis next season. A big thanks to Marshall Gerston, Jeff Lupear and all of our sponsors for helping us this season. We are ready to challenge for the title in 2013!”
