Holiday Gift Ideas for Arizona’s Outdoor Enthusiasts

Skip the crowds at the mall this year and give a special gift to the wildlife and outdoor recreation enthusiasts on your holiday shopping list from the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

  • Leftover spring big game hunt tags
If the hunters on your holiday gift list missed the recent draw for 2013 spring hunts, a big game hunt this spring may still be in their future. Plenty of leftover hunt permit-tags for spring javelina and turkey are still available for purchase over-the-counter from the Arizona Game and Fish Department. More than 6,000 leftover javelina tags and a handful of turkey tags are available on a first come, first served basis at all Game and Fish offices or by mail. Check out the list of leftover tags at http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/documents/leftovers-spring.pdf. Applications for purchase of tags can either be mailed to Arizona Game and Fish Department, Attn: Draw/First Come, 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85806, or purchases can be made with an application in person at any Game and Fish office. Note: The 2013 statewide bag limit for javelina was raised to two per calendar year, with some restrictions. The 2013 Arizona Spring Turkey, Javelina, Buffalo and Bear Hunt Draw Information booklet is available at Game and Fish offices, authorized license dealers statewide, and online at www.azgfd.gov/draw

  • Hunting and fishing licenses
Purchase a 2013 license for a family member or friend at any department office or license dealer. A general fishing license (Class A) for state waters is $23.50 for residents, a general hunting license (Class G) is $32.25 for residents, and a combination hunt/fish license is $54 for residents. Also, an Urban Fishing Program (Class U) license, good for the 21 Urban Fishing Program lakes, is $18.50 for residents or nonresidents. For that special someone, consider making a gift of a lifetime license for a lifetime of memories.
