USA Shooting Primed for 2013 SHOT Show

Fresh off a summer of success in which the USA Shooting Team captivated America and showcased their shooting prowess, members of the USA Shooting Team and staff will be represented at the 2013 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas, Nev., at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, January 15-18.

The 35th SHOT Show, presented by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), will bring together over 60,000 firearm industry professionals including buyers, exhibitors, media and guests.

Traditionally, exhibitors debut new products/services and strengthen industry relations. SHOT Show is an excellent opportunity for the Team to stay in touch with the outdoor industry and win the admiration of new fans. More than 13 USA Shooting National Team athletes including 10 2012 Olympians will be in attendance to engage with team sponsors and interact with industry leaders.

Featuring the best rifle, pistol and shotgun athletes on the planet, step inside USA Shooting’s Hall of Champions located in BASSANO 2709 and interact with the spirited representatives and leaders of the Olympic-shooting sports. Daily appearances with athletes and their 11 combined Olympic medals will take place on Tuesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 17 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.

Athletes in attendance at the 2013 SHOT Show will include all four 2012 Olympic medalists in addition to six other Olympians. USA Shooting has committed to bring its largest athlete contingent ever with over 13 National Team athletes set to attend.

Kim Rhode (El Monte, Calif.), Vincent Hancock (Eatonton, Ga.), Matt Emmons (Browns Mills, N.J.) and Jamie Gray (Lebanon, Pa.) will bring a combined 11 Olympic medals to the industry event and will be a part of USA Shooting’s presence in Vegas in addition to numerous sponsor obligations.

Rhode, Hancock, Emmons and Gray provided the defining moments for the summer of 2012 as the USA Shooting Team, with three gold medals, became just the second U.S. Team since 1924 to earn that many top podiums. In doing so, these four athletes and their 18 shooting teammates helped earned notable credibility and distinction for the shooting sports industry and helped generate positive headlines in an environment littered with a deeper attraction to swimmers, runners and gymnasts.

Other 2012 Olympians participating will include 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Corey Cogdell (Eagle River, Alaska), Amanda Furrer (Spokane, Wash.), Eric and Sandra Uptagrafft (Phenix City, Ala.), Nick Mowrer (Butte, Mont.), and Keith Sanderson (Colorado Springs, Colo.). Paralympic pistol representative Eric Hollen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will also be in attendance.

Other National Team athletes participating include shotgun and Evergreen State representatives Jaiden Grinnell (Port Angeles, Wash.) and John Mullins (Port Orchard, Wash.).

“Instrumental in helping build our culture of success is the shooting industry and the incredible partners that provide contributions to our athletes and sport,” said Buddy DuVall, USA Shooting Team Foundation Executive Director. “We anxiously await the opportunity to personally thank them for their involvement and interest in the Olympic-shooting sports at the upcoming SHOT Show and to shine the spotlight on our deserving athletes after a remarkable 2012.”
