Suunto, a global leader in sports precision instruments announces the launch of the new GPS Track POD, a wireless sensor that uses satellite technology to record speed, distance and route information. The Suunto GPS Track POD is a lightweight, convenient solution for tracking outdoor adventures. It can be used on its own or with existing Suunto heart rate monitors to deliver highly accurate speed, distance, altitude and mapping functions.
The Suunto GPS Track POD can also be connected to Suunto heart rate monitors (including the t series, M5 and Quest), to provide GPS-based speed and distance in real time. All data can later be uploaded to the online sports diary Movescount.com, where users can view their distance and speed, for training purposes or to share with friends.
Weighing in at just 35g (1.2oz), the Suunto GPS Track POD is hassle-free and can be attached to a backpack or put in a pocket. It can be operated with the push of a button even when wearing gloves. It is waterproof to 30m (100ft), ensuring total reliability, whatever the weather. The Suunto GPS Track POD can be customized in Movescount.com to deliver 15 to 100 hours of battery life (depending on recording interval) on a single charge, making it perfect for longer hikes or skiing trips.
