Cabela's 01.21.13
Collegiate anglers throughout the country will be setting their sights on Kentucky Lake for the 2013 Collegiate Bass Fishing Open. Serving as host for the fourth consecutive year, The Henry County Alliance of Paris, Tennessee, and the Paris Landing Marina will be tournament headquarters. In a new twist on the event, it has been moved up on the schedule to showcase the fantastic spring fishing opportunities on Kentucky Lake. Competition takes place April 19-20, with the onsite registration, dinner, and activities to be held Thursday, April 18, 2013
The event is open to all collegiate fishing teams recognized by their university, and there is no entry fee to participate.
Registration is officially open and can be found at:

This unique event features a true team format that allows teammates to share information and work together to amass the largest amount of weight possible over two days of competition. The winning team will be determined by the combined weight of each team’s top two boats each day.
“Our unique format in the Collegiate Bass Fishing Open has proven to be a popular concept in collegiate fishing,” said Danny Blandford, Program Director of the Association of Collegiate Anglers. “Between the team aspect of competition, and a first-class fishery like Kentucky Lake, we have a winning combination in Paris, and it’s great to keep growing the event with the Henry County Alliance.”
Larry Crawford, CEO of the Henry County Alliance, added, “We are excited about hosting the Collegiate Bass Fishing Open for the fourth year and we look forward to tying it into our annual festivities, ‘The World’s Biggest Fish Fry’. These anglers won’t be contributing their catches to the fish fry, but we are excited to start our week long celebration with a first-class group of students.”
To kick off the event, anglers will be participating in a “Spirit Parade” through town, featuring the trucks, boats, and of course, school spirit. The route will lead everyone to the Henry County Fairgrounds, where anglers will be treated to a fish fry and registration banquet. In addition to the competitors, the public is invited to come out and meet the students
Tournament Director, Wade Middleton, commented, “The parade, the fish fry, and the social are the Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series version of a pep rally the night before the big game. The anglers have a blast in the Collegiate Bass Fishing Open, and this year we should set new weight records by moving the event into spring. I’m expecting a strong shallow bite, which really levels the playing field for all the teams.”
Daily weigh-ins will be held at Paris Landing Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20. Collegiate fishing fans, family members, and friends of competitors can follow the action by visiting CollegiateBassChampionship.com and Facebook.com/CollegiateBassChampionship. Televised coverage will be seen on NBC Sports Outdoors, and available to over 79 million households.
