Captains Meeting Set For Wednesday, January 23rd
The 50th Annual Buccaneer Cup Sailfish Release Tournament is set for this Thursday through Saturday, January 24-26 out of Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach, FL. The legendary Buccaneer Cup Sailfish Release Tournament is steeped in sport-fishing history and has been a leader in billfish conservation for the past half-century.
As one of the most historic billfish tournaments in the world, the Buc Cup is also the only billfish tournament in the country that donates every penny of its proceeds to the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) and its ongoing mission to “safeguard the rights of saltwater anglers, protect marine, boat and tackle industry jobs and ensure the long-term sustainability of our nation’s fisheries.”
The Buccaneer Cup runs concurrently with another excellent charity event, the Florida Fish for Life Billfish Tournament, which donates all of its proceeds to colon cancer research and treatment. The tournaments are run under the banner of Palm Beach Double Shot with the captain’s meeting at the original Buccaneer Bar & Restaurant on Singer Island set for Wednesday, January 23rd. Registration begins at 4 p.m. tomorrow with the actual captain’s meeting at 6 p.m.
Three fishing days follow and the event is capped off with an outstanding awards banquet at the exclusive Sailfish Club of Florida in Palm Beach. Don’t miss out on this legendary billfish contest as it celebrates 50 years in 2013!
