Rock River Arms Introduces the R3 Competition Rifle

Rock River Arms introduces another three-gun competition rifle into its lineup, the R3 Competition Rifle, AR1700 in .223 Wylde. As with just about anything in the AR-15 community, the AR1700 R3 Competition Rifle has many features most shooters can appreciate.

For instance, its 18-inch fluted stainless steel barrel with a 1:8 twist has an RRA-tuned and ported brake at the muzzle, which keeps you on target while further taming what’s already a modest recoil.

It also includes a bolt carrier group and charging handle assembly, forged A4 upper receiver, RRA TRO-XL free float handguard, and TRO-Top Octagonal/ XL-15-inch extended length rail.

One reason for the AR1700’s accuracy is the muzzle compensator. The two-chamber compensator helps keep the bullet on its natural path. The first chamber’s vent ports strip gases away from the muzzle at the top and sides to suppress recoil. The second chamber, located on the compensator’s muzzle face, removes expelled gas from the bullet as it leaves the barrel. MSRP: $1,310.
